Our Part in the Central Minnesota Hearing Aid Bank
The Hearing Clinic of St. Cloud Ear, Nose and Throat has been volunteering to help those less fortunate with the Central Minnesota Hearing Aid Bank. Since the inception of this program we have been involved fitting patients with hearing aids who would otherwise go without. The program is a coordinated effort between CentraCare Family Health Care Center, St. Cloud State University Department of Communication Disorders, St. Cloud Sertoma Club and The Hearing Clinic of St. Cloud ENT Clinic. The CentraCare Family Health Care Clinic does a means test and determines who is eligible for the program. Eligible patients are sent to St. Cloud State University for a Diagnostic Hearing Evaluation that determines if the patient is a candidate for a hearing aid. Those who would be good candidates are sent to The Hearing Clinic for a medical evaluation by an ear, nose and throat physician and hearing aid consultation and fitting by the audiologists of the Hearing Clinic. The Sertoma Club helps sponsor the program by providing funding for hearing aids and earmolds. Here Kyle Peterson of the Sertoma Club is presenting a check to representatives of the Central Hearing Aid Bank including Hearing Clinic Audiologist Nancy Pauley, St. Cloud Ear, Nose and Throat Physician Ted Truitt, M.D and Paul Kunutson of the CentraCare Family Health Center.
